What Is Small Business AI Artificial Intelligence...Really?

What Is Small Business AI Artificial Intelligence? You have certainly heard the terms bantered around everywhere lately.  But how well do you understand what AI is? Without getting too technical, let's try to make it clear for you, the small business owner.

AI is an acronym Artificial Intelligence. Huh? It means simply the ability of a computer or computer-controlled device, to perform tasks most often associated with intelligent beings (or even humans.)

If you remember a few years back, the TV game show, Jeopardy, had contestants compete against "Watson".  Watson was an AI database (computer) of information who gave really smart humans fits!  Haha. That's a great illustration of what AI really is and can do.

The term, AI, is often applied to the process of developing digital ( computerized) systems that are programmed by humans to do things with the intellectual processes usually performed by humans, such as the ability to discover meaning, find generalities, use  reasoning or learn from past history or experience.

Despite continuing advances in computer processing speed and memory capacity, there are as yet no programs that can match full human flexibility over wider domains or in tasks requiring much everyday knowledge.

Still, some programs have matched or exceeded the performance levels of human experts and professionals in executing many specific tasks.  That artificial intelligence, in this limited sense, is found in applications as diverse as medical diagnosis, computer search engines, voice or handwriting recognition, and chatbots.

History of AI Artificial Intelligence

Since arriving on the scene in the 1940s, digital computers have been programmed to carry out many complex task - such as discovering proofs for mathematical theorems or playing chess - with great proficiency.

Advantages of AI Artificial Intelligence.

By now, you're probably getting the idea that Artificial Intelligence has awesome potential. Yet, it is merely a tool. It is the progression of the digital technology age. Remember, we once got around by horse and buggy!

So the advantages are huge. AI can make us better at almost anything. It can save us huge amounts of time and dramatically increase personal and professional productivity.

So fasten you seat belts, human beings, AI is here whether you like it or not.  That is why I've written this page; to get you more familiar with and hopefully not so intimidated, by Artificial Intelligence.

Are There Disadvantages with AI Artificial Intelligence?

"With great power, comes great responsibility". I think that famous line from Spider Man applies to AI. As stated above, AI is just a tool, but if not managed well, could have serious disadvantages as well.

A knife, and a gun and a car and fire are also tools available to us!  Each of these can be used for great good. Each can also be used to harm or cause great pain.

So with technology, especially, We need to think about all of this and act rationally and wisely.  We have to trust that developers and regulators make beneficial decisions.

How Does AI Artificial Intelligence Affect  Small Business?

Imagine making administrative tasks like, answering phone calls, sales prospecting, content and marketing material, financial and engineering and management work all done better and faster!

Would that allow you to be more productive? And if you're more efficient and productive each day, would your business make more money? 

Well that's the idea with AI.  There are now apps and programs cropping up everywhere to allow all of this to become our new reality.  Pretty awesome, right?

How Do I Start Using AI Artificial Intelligence In My Business?

You may already be utilizing AI to some extent.  Have you used or played around with ChatGPT to write new content? Have you tried to generate an image for a web or marketing piece using an AI app like Midjourney? If you have, you have already used AI.
